WORKSHOPS DETAILS

19-20 JULY 2025

BLS FOR ALL: 

19 July, 14.00-15.00 Executive Box 16

Led by Dr Joseph Kazibwe, ST7 Cardiology

This workshop is aimed at revising basic skills re cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the event of a suspected or confirmed cardiac arrest, with 8 out of 10 out of hospital arrests happening indoors and a survival rate of no more than than 1 in 10. There are two sessions to allow delegates to attend, understand and practice their CPR skills and know what to do exactly if faced with a situation, and will have opportunity to ask questions and clarify queries if any.

ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP:

19 July, 12.15-13.15 Executive Box 12 

Dr Ashish Thakur, Consultant Cardiologist

This one hour session is mainly aimed at delegates who like to be night owls! Ashish has been exploring night skies in Yorkshire / northern UK / Scotland and Arctic regions, mainly Iceland for over a decade and as an ardent devotee of The Sun God, he is a keen Aurora Borealis enthusiast, and is well recognised in the Aurora Chasers community for his interest, adventure and his Aurora collection over the years, often in most harsh and difficult conditions. Book to have a proper chat re refining your skills at chasing and capturing Aurora Borealis, the equipment, besides a look at some of the stunning Aurora pictures/videos from the ongoing Solar Maximum season. The season this year starts in less than 2 months!

Attendees will have an opportunity to buy the photo prints online to support the Hridayam Foundation- serving the poorest with heart disease in Bihar, India.

MINDFULNESS & YOGA WORKSHOPS

These two workshps are another special initiatives for BJMA UK 2025, where delegates will have a closed door opportunity to interact and practice the invaulable skills aimed at improving lifestyle, general health and well being in their busy work-life schedule and helping to drive some self-focus and feel better. 

CULTURAL AWARENESS IN THE WORKPLACE: 

19 July, 11.00-12.00 Executive Box 12 

Led by Dr Smita Thakur, GP and Approved Trainer

As a certified trainer in this domain, Smita is passionate about the value and relevance of awareness of cultural diversity in medical education and training. With the large number of international medical graduates (IMGs) as current trainees in the NHS, this is an apt theme for a focussed workshop to give delegates (mainly trainers/supervisors/teachers/mentors/coaches) and anyone in a leadership role to have top tips re perspectives to help improve the workplace experience and overall training. 

WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION:

Dr Pulak Sahay, Retd Consultant Gastroenterologist, Wildlife Photographer

Come and visit the wildlife wonders of the world captured over two deacades, ranging from smallest creature - a Humming Bird (4 inches long, 4 gm in weight) to the largest- a Humpback Whale from at 50 feet, weighing 40, 000 kg.! You will traverse from the icy Arctic to the sweltering African deserts and everything in between. 

Attendees will have an opportunity to buy the prints online to suppor the CARD Charity- to tackle Reflux disease early and avoid complications later!

Charity Stalls: Vrindavan - The Garden of Silk

Delegates will have the opportunity to support charitable causes by visiting and buying Silk Sarees from Bihar/India origin, besides a selection of paintings and bangles (Lahthis) straight from Artisans in Bihar.
